Statistics show the prevalence of truck accident injuries

On Behalf of | Jun 6, 2022 | Truck Accidents |

If you recently sustained a serious injury in a large truck collision, you could face numerous obstacles as you try to move forward. For example, you could have debilitating pain, financial hardships resulting from medical costs and missing work, as well as emotional difficulties such as depression or anxiety. However, you should know that you are not alone, and many truck accident victims face these hardships each year.

Make sure you carefully go over all aspects of the accident and understand your options. If a truck driver’s negligent behavior caused the accident, hold them answerable.

Data on large truck collisions and injuries

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration published data on large truck collision injuries between 2009 and 2019. During this period, there was a notable increase in the number of injury accidents involving large trucks and buses. Between 2009 and 2015, large truck and bus accidents resulting in injuries went up by 62%, followed by a 13% increase between 2016 and 2019.

In 2019, 127,000 large truck and bus accidents resulting in injuries occurred.

Additional statistics on large truck collisions

2019 saw roughly 510,000 large truck collisions reported to law enforcement, and 114,000 of these accidents led to injuries. Most of these injury accidents (86%) took place between Monday and Friday, and 22% took place during nighttime hours (from 6 PM to 6 AM).

If you are struggling with the consequences of a large truck collision, you need to analyze the unique details of the accident and determine the best course of action. Do not hesitate to stand up for your legal rights.
