How do you prove fault in a car accident?

On Behalf of | Mar 26, 2020 | Car Accidents |

Most Kentucky drivers will be in at least one car accident during their driving career. Most of the time these accidents are just minor fender benders but occasionally an accident with serious injuries occurs. If a person is involved in a car accident, they may be wondering how it is determined whose fault the accident was.

When a person is involved in a car accident it is important to prove who was responsible for the accident. First, if the police come to the accident scene, they often make a report as to what they believe caused the accident. It can include if the police believe someone was speeding, if traffic tickets were issued, if alcohol was suspected to be involved, etc.

The police report should be obtained once it is completed. There are also a couple of accidents where fault is usually on the same driver. If a driver was hit from behind by another driver it is almost always the other driver’s fault. Similarly, if a person makes a left hand turn in front of another driver it is almost always the driver making the turn’s fault.

If a person was involved in a serious car accident in Kentucky it is important that they contact a legal professional who is skilled in personal injury. An attorney can help their client by reviewing police reports, interviewing witnesses and helping to determine who is at fault. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages and other damages.

It is important to prove who is responsible for a Kentucky car accident. In these cases it can be a good idea to involve a legal professional who has the experience to tackle these complicated cases.
