Helping Kentuckians seek compensation after boating accidents

On Behalf of | Apr 6, 2018 | Personal Injury

Kentucky has some of the most beautiful lakes in the country, so many Kentuckians take to the water on warm, sunny days to relax and enjoy time with friends and family. People often believe that boating on a lake is considerably safer than in the ocean. However, crashes and other incidents can occur in any body of water where you’ve got water vessels.

Unfortunately, too many boat operators are negligent, reckless and/or too inexperienced to be at the helm of their vessel. Boating under the influence (BUI) is also a common problem.

In Kentucky, it’s illegal to have a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08 percent or higher if you’re operating a watercraft (including jet skis). That’s the same level as is illegal if you’re driving a vehicle on one of our roads. Further, state law forbids drinking alcohol in public, which includes our lakes and other waterways.

A boating accident can cause serious and sometimes fatal injuries. A victim and his or her family may face significant medical bills, lost wages and more. This can place them in financial peril when they’re also dealing with the fallout of the accident.

Our attorneys have combined experience of more than 50 years helping victims and families get the compensation from at-fault boat operators that they need to rebuild their lives after a boating accident, either through a settlement or a verdict. Our clients don’t pay us unless and until we get compensation for them.
